What it checks

Included checks and capabilities for SiteCheck Monitor Pro.

  • Broken internal and external links (4xx, 5xx, no response) and missing images

  • Redirects (3xx) with their destination so you can update links

  • SEO health: search engines discouraged, plain permalinks, empty tagline, titles over 60 characters, images without alt text, H1s inside content, thin content

  • Security checks: WordPress core, plugin and theme updates pending; Inactive plugins installed; PHP version; Publicly readable sensitive files (readme.html, license.txt, debug.log, .env, wp-config backups, .git); XML-RPC enabled; Directory listing; Missing security headers (HSTS, X-Content-Type-Options, X-Frame-Options, CSP and more); Version disclosure (X-Powered-By); User enumeration via ?author=N and the REST API; Theme/plugin file editor enabled; Debug output shown to visitors; Default "admin" username; HTTPS

  • Background scanning in small batches through WP-Cron, so scans don't run during visitors' page loads

  • Dashboard widget with a summary in wp-admin

  • Pro: daily scans, unlimited URLs, email alerts and CSV export

Licensing and requirements

The plugin code is licensed under the GNU GPL v2 or later. A paid Pro license key from Nightcoders, LLC unlocks the Pro features for one site and covers updates for the license year.

  • WordPress 6.4 or newer (tested on 7.0.7 and 7.1.3)
  • PHP 7.4 or newer (tested on 7.4, 8.0, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4)
  • WP-Cron enabled (default) for background scans
  • Admin (manage_options) access
  • Single-site WordPress. Multisite has not been tested.

Common questions

Will it slow my site down?

Scans run in small background batches through WP-Cron instead of during visitors' page loads, and you can lower the batch size in Settings.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

Free scans weekly, up to 500 URLs. Pro adds daily scans, unlimited URLs, email alerts and CSV export.

Is it a subscription?

Pro is $59 per site per year and renews annually. Cancel any time; the plugin falls back to the free tier.

What data leaves my site?

The plugin requests the URLs found in your content to check them, and requests your own site for security checks. When you activate a key, the key and your site's host name are sent to Lemon Squeezy to validate it.

What happens on uninstall?

Deleting the plugin removes its table, options, transients and scheduled events. Deactivating keeps your results.

Is this a security audit?

No. It flags common misconfigurations. It is not a penetration test or a guarantee of security.
