Software development for biotech and life sciences

Nightcoders builds custom software for biotech, lab, and life-science operations teams—from our San Diego headquarters and Newport Beach office, on-site across Southern California and remote nationwide.

How we work with biotech, lab, and life-science operations teams

San Diego is a biotech town, and we build the unglamorous software that keeps science moving: sample and inventory tracking, lab operations workflows, instrument-data handling, and dashboards that replace the spreadsheet only one postdoc understands.

We respect the boundary between research tooling and validated systems: we are explicit about where GxP requirements apply and design audit trails and access control accordingly.

  • Sample, reagent, and inventory tracking systems
  • Lab operations workflows: requests, scheduling, handoffs
  • Instrument data ingestion and reporting layers
  • LIMS/ELN integrations and internal dashboards

Systems and integrations

Typical surrounding systems: LIMS and ELN platforms, instrument exports, ERP/procurement, and identity providers with role-based lab access.

Integration work follows the same discipline everywhere: documented source of truth per field, idempotent jobs with retries, and error visibility so operators are not stuck when a vendor API fails. See how we phase delivery and case studies for how that plays out.

Frequently asked questions

Do you build validated GxP systems?
We build research and operations tooling, and we are explicit about validation boundaries. Where GxP applies, we design for audit trails and work within your quality process—or tell you a specialized vendor is the better fit.
Can you parse our instrument output files?
Usually yes—structured and semi-structured instrument exports are a common ingestion problem. We build parsers with validation and quarantine paths for malformed files.
Where do you work?
San Diego headquarters, Newport Beach office, on-site across Southern California, and remote with clients throughout California and nationwide. Same written scope and delivery cadence either way.
